A Season of Giving Thanks

HAPPY THANKSGIVING... THE YEAR IN REVIEW

2010 brought another year of fun and adventure for our family. We started out the new year in Colorado Springs, Colorado, visiting Michelle’s sister and family. Our highlights included visiting the U.S. Olympic Training Center, the Garden of the Gods, the Air Force Academy and we even talked Dave into riding a ski lift to the top of the slopes at Breckenridge!

Next we headed off to Mitchell, South Dakota. Home of the Corn Palace. Yes that’s right. A huge building made out of... corn! Dave’s cousin’s son graduated from high school so we took the opportunity to visit with our SD side of the family. Also along on the adventure were Dave’s mom and aunt. This was Michelle’s first trip to South Dakota. She now has only 5 states in the U.S. left to visit!

A few weeks later we hit the road again -- this time for Southern Illinois to spend time with Michelle’s brother and family. It was a wonderful weekend with our nephews and exploring historic St. Charles, Missouri.

In August, we flew with Dave’s mom to Baltimore, Maryland, where our East Coast explorations began. Dave’s sister, graduated from Penn State University with her doctorate degree. Quite a proud accomplishment! After the graduation festivities we explored Baltimore MD and Washington DC -- enjoying a great dinner with Michelle’s aunt & uncle too.

We can’t wait for our next roadtrip… we’ll be spending part of this Christmas holiday in the St. Louis area with Michelle’s family as we celebrate her father’s 70th birthday.

We pray your home will be filled with warmth and laughter this Thanksgiving! A wonderful season for giving thanks!

A Funny Tradition

I really like the idea of sending Christmas cards but most years I just never find the time in December to send them. So several years ago I began a tradition of sending Thanksgiving letters each November. It's my way of looking back over the year, giving thanks for all my blessings, and connecting with friends and family.

When Dave and I got married, he really liked the Thanksgiving letter tradition and suggested we continue it. And so we have. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I can't wait to post our letter with photos. I hope you'll enjoy sharing in our season of giving thanks!

Blogging for Beginners

To be honest, I only started following blogs about a year ago. To be completely honest, I only figured out what blogs were and why people followed them about a year ago. :-)

So it's really weird to be starting one. But here I am. I think this will be a place where I write about and share photos of my crazy, fun and wonderful life with my dear husband Dave. It will also be a place where I can share my thoughts and dreams as we journey into parenthood via adoption. But more on that later.

For now, thanks for being patient and traveling this journey with a beginning blogger. Off we go...
